Emergency services are provided at SalusCare’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), which is located just off Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers.

At this licensed facility, adults and children receive the compassionate, lifesaving behavioral health care they urgently need from expert providers. The SalusCare CSU provides immediate psychiatric intervention, assessment, treatment, and referrals.
Detox care is tailored to the patients’ strengths, needs and abilities. An individualized and supportive approach to substance use disorders, it may incorporate physician supervised medical treatments, group and individual therapy, pet and aroma therapy.
At SalusCare’s Colonial Campus, an in-patient 20-bed facility provides adults who are suffering from the acute symptoms of substance withdrawal, medically supervised under the direction of a physician. Services are provided 24 hours/day, 7 days/week for 3 to 8 days at our Colonial Campus.
How to Prepare for Your Visit
If possible, bring the following items:
- Driver's License or Identification Card
- Insurance Card
- List of Medications
However, if you are unable to bring these items, it will not prevent you from receiving services.
Additionally, whether or not the cost of care is covered by insurance, no patient will be turned away due to an inability to pay.
What to Expect at Our Crisis Stabilization Unit
At SalusCare, we meet each person where they are and provide a personalized pathway to the next step in their behavioral healthcare journey. Following a compassionate welcome to the CSU, each patient is guided through an evaluation with a caring mental health professional who assesses their mental well-being and substance use and determines how best to help them. Interviews and questionnaires could be part of the process.
If a person is deemed unable to care for themselves or at risk of harming themselves or others, they will be admitted to the crisis stabilization unit. This could happen voluntarily or involuntarily under Florida’s Baker Act.
A typical stay ranges from three to 14 days, during which individuals who need care might receive medication, participate in group counseling or family education, and receive recovery education for substance use disorders.
When a person completes their stay at the CSU, SalusCare offers case management and outpatient services such as:
- Psychiatry and therapy (in-person or telehealth)
- Day and evening treatment services
- Detox and community-based services
- Medication-assisted treatment (MAT)
- Residential programs
- Recovery residences
- And more
