SalusCare CEO Selected for National Points of Light Award

FORT MYERS, FLA.,  April 17, 2014– Kevin B. Lewis, CEO of SalusCare and former Chair of the Board of the Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida, was selected to receive the National Point of Light Award on April 16, 2014.  Lewis was nominated by the Coalition for his leadership of the non-profit, and for his tireless dedication to prevention on behalf of Lee County families.

He was featured on the National Points of Light Website on April 16:  https://www.pointsoflight.org/programs/recognition/dpol/awards/5197

Kevin has been a tireless advocate for Prevention in Lee County, and has served as Chair of the Board of the Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida twice.  He has been actively involved in many aspects of the Coalition since its founding by Jim Nathan in 1989, and has pioneered new paradigms of partnership, including supporting office space for the Coalition.

Kevin Lewis was an adjunct faculty member at Florida Gulf Coast University for 10 years, and serves on the Board for the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, the United Way, the Coalition for a Drug Free Lee County and is President of the Rotary Club of Fort Myers.

This award was created by President George W. Bush.   From his first day in office, President Bush devoted very special attention to voluntary community service as a means of helping solve some of America’s most serious social problems. His leadership resulted in the creation of the Points of Light Foundation and the recognition of thousands of volunteers whose stories were shared widely as examples to others. In 1998, Points of Light Foundation and the Corporation for National and Community Service reinstated the Daily Point of Light Award with a mission to honor those who take action to create change in their communities.
