Crisis Stabilization Units

SalusCare operates a 16-bed children and 30-bed adult crisis stabilization unit at our Colonial Campus, providing secure, inpatient psychiatric stabilization for those requiring the highest level of care and that may be at risk of harming themselves or others. Individuals receiving care here may arrive via law enforcement under the Baker Act, or can present on a voluntary basis to be assessed for appropriateness of admission. Once accepted into the facility, individuals undergo an initial admission process. Upon completion, the individual is admitted to the unit and will meet with a psychiatrist, have a physical, and work with the treatment team to stabilize the current crisis. During care, patients can participate in activities, including group, and work with an assigned discharge planner to transition back into the community successfully.  These plans may include arranging housing, outpatient appointments, or other identified needed services.
